Lunch at Cascais Marina — and arriving there by boat

Equipa Lusitana Boat · June 18, 2026

The Cascais marina is one of the prettiest spots along the coast: boats, terraces, the bay and the town right next door. And there is a way to experience it that changes everything — arriving by boat, after cruising the coast from Lisbon. In this article, how to combine a catamaran cruise with a great lunch, in Cascais or on board.

The best way to arrive in Cascais

Instead of fighting traffic and hunting for parking, imagine entering the bay of Cascais from the water, with the marina and the Sintra hills ahead of you. The Lisbon-to-Cascais cruise by boat is, in itself, half the experience — the coastline, the forts and the beaches along the way drifting past.

Two ways to have lunch

1. Lunch on board, made to measure. You don’t even need to leave the boat: we bring the table out onto the water. With chef’s food on board — seafood, Portuguese petiscos or a menu of your choice — you have lunch with the bay all around you, unhurried and with just your group. It’s the most private and relaxed option.

2. A stop in Cascais. Prefer to set foot on land? The town and the marina area have plenty of seafront terraces and restaurants. We plan the route so you have time for lunch in Cascais and to return to Lisbon by water.

Frequently asked questions

Can you really go from Lisbon to Cascais by boat? You can, and it’s one of our favourite routes. We set off from Doca de Alcântara (Gate 3), in Lisbon, and follow the coast all the way to the bay of Cascais. Since it’s always a private charter, we plan the route with you.

How long does it take by boat from Lisbon to Cascais? It depends on the wind and the stops you’d like along the way, but expect a relaxed cruise of a few hours — the journey is part of the experience, not just a way to get there.

Do we eat on board or do we have to go out to a restaurant? Both are possible. You can have lunch on board with chef’s food on board, anchored in the bay, or we arrange time for you to step ashore and have lunch on a terrace in Cascais.

How many people fit on the boat? The Bali 5.4 catamaran “Lusitana” carries up to 37 guests, always as a private charter — the boat is yours alone.
