Some meetings are forgotten the next day. And some days stay with you. On 30 November 2025, Do It Better — a professional training company — brought its team together aboard the Lusitana catamaran, on the Tagus river, for a full day of bonding, play and celebration. Team members came from all over the country and the setting was the best Lisbon has to offer: the river, the Ponte 25 de Abril and a late-autumn sunset.
Here’s how it went — and what we learned about organising a company event on board.
The idea: get the team out of the room
The goal was simple: gather a team that works scattered across the country and give them a memorable day, far from the meeting room. A private boat solves that instantly — it changes the scenery, brings people together in one space and gets the conversations flowing. We set off from Doca de Alcântara, in Lisbon, and the boat was reserved for the group alone, the whole day.

A treasure hunt on the river
The highlight was a treasure hunt on board: several puzzles to solve as a team throughout the day, with clues scattered around the boat and along the journey. It’s the perfect activity for a group — it gets everyone talking, mixes people who didn’t know each other and turns the cruise into an active experience, not just a simple outing. Laughter, friendly competition and that collective “got it!” when a puzzle finally clicks.
This kind of dynamic adapts to any team and is one of the most effective forms of team building: people collaborate without even realising it.

Food on board and the sunset
Between puzzles, there was time for the best part: the table. We served a buffet of petiscos, sweets and drinks, prepared and served by the crew, with the river drifting past all around.

In the late afternoon, the Tagus did the rest. The boat slowed down near the Ponte 25 de Abril and the team gathered on deck for the sunset. There was even live music — a saxophonist setting the mood as the sun dipped over the river.

And then, the toast no one will forget:

Why a boat works for company events
What made this day different:
- Total privacy — the boat is the team’s alone, with no strangers and no rigid schedules.
- Built-in activity — the treasure hunt gave the day structure and energy.
- Everything taken care of — catering, bar and logistics handled by the crew; the company just had to show up.
- An unbeatable setting — Lisbon seen from the river, with the golden hour at the end of the day.
It works for team building, team dinners, goal celebrations, client receptions or Christmas parties — up to 37 people.

Frequently asked questions
How many people fit on a company event on board? The Lusitana catamaran welcomes up to 37 guests as a private charter — the boat is yours alone, with no sharing with strangers.
Can you organise team-building activities on the boat? Yes. The treasure hunt from this event is one example: we design puzzles and activities tailored to the group, built into the cruise. Just tell us the goal.
Where do we board for the event? At Doca de Alcântara, Gate 3, in Lisbon — central and easy for those coming from out of town. If the team arrives from various parts of the country, it’s the ideal meeting point.
And if we want something more informal, with grilled food? That works too. Instead of a buffet of petiscos, we can set up a barbecue on board or catch the sunset on the Tagus with a team toast.
