New: Guided Boat Tour in Lisbon, in English and Portuguese

Equipa Lusitana Boat · July 3, 2026

We have news on board: you can now add a live guide to your boat tour in Lisbon, available in English and Portuguese. As you sail the Tejo, the guide walks you through what you’re seeing — the monuments, the stories behind them and the history of Lisbon, from the Age of Discoveries to today.

What the guide tells you

From the river, Lisbon is an open book — and the guide helps you read it. Along the route, you’ll get to know:

  • Belém Tower — the 16th-century fortress that guarded the harbour entrance, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Monument to the Discoveries — who the figures on the prow are and why they’re there.
  • Jerónimos Monastery — the Manueline jewel, seen from the Belém riverside.
  • Ponte 25 de Abril — the Golden Gate’s sister bridge, and what its name says about the country’s recent history.
  • Cristo Rei — the statue watching over Lisbon from the south bank.
  • Praça do Comércio — the city’s front door in the age before planes, rebuilt after the 1755 earthquake.

More than dates, the guide shares the stories: the caravels setting sail, the earthquake that reshaped the city, the neighbourhoods climbing up from the riverbanks. If you’d rather explore on your own, we also have a guide to the monuments you see from the Tejo here on the blog.

Which tours it’s available on

The guide is an optional extra on any private charter, from €125 per hour. It makes especially good sense on the Old Tour Lisbon and the Morning Tour, where the riverfront is the star — but you can also add it to a sunset cruise, to see the monuments in the golden light before the toast.

English or Portuguese, to suit your group

We welcome many mixed groups — Portuguese families with friends from abroad, international company teams — so the guide works in English and Portuguese, depending on the group. Just tell us which language (or languages) when you book.
