Wine tasting on a boat in Lisbon: Portuguese wines on board

Equipa Lusitana Boat · June 20, 2026

There’s a special way to taste the wines of Portugal: glass in hand, the Tagus river all around and Lisbon drifting slowly by. A wine tasting on a boat in Lisbon brings together the best of two worlds — wine tourism and a cruise — aboard a catamaran just for your group.

Portuguese wines, over the Tagus

Aboard the Lusitana, we put together a tasting tailored to you: fresh whites, full-bodied reds or Portuguese sparkling wine, chosen for the occasion. All on a private catamaran, with no table next to you, at the river’s own pace.

  • Private cruise — the boat is yours alone.
  • Selection of your choice — whites, reds, rosés or sparkling.
  • At sunset — the right light for a toast.

The great wine regions of Portugal, on board

Portugal is one of the countries with the most native grape varieties in the world, and each region tells a different story in the glass. On a tasting on board you can travel through them without leaving the Tagus:

  • Douro — the oldest demarcated wine region in the world. Birthplace of Port wine, it also produces intense, elegant table reds, born on the terraces of the Douro river. A classic to open or close the tasting.
  • Setúbal — right next to Lisbon, on the other bank. Famous for Moscatel de Setúbal, a sweet, aromatic wine, and for whites and reds from the Setúbal Peninsula (Castelão, Fernão Pires). The natural choice for a tasting with local flavour.
  • Alentejo — plains as far as the eye can see and full-bodied, rounded reds full of sunshine, from varieties such as Aragonez, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet. The favourites of those who love generous wines.
  • And also — whites from the Lisbon region and from the Vinhos Verdes, fresh and light, perfect for the golden hour on the river.

We put the selection together with you — a journey through two or three regions, or a focus on just one.

Wine and petiscos, paired together

A good tasting calls for something to go with it. We add a board of cheeses and cured meats or other Portuguese petiscos, to pair with each wine — a Serra cheese with a Douro red, a Moscatel de Setúbal with something sweet. It’s wine tourism and dining on the same cruise.

Wines, fado and the flavours of Portugal

For the most Portuguese experience of all, Lisboa Menina e Moça brings together live fado, wines and national flavours on board — a journey through the country’s culture as Lisbon parades by on the water, closed off by a sunset on the Tagus.

Frequently asked questions

What wines do you serve in the tasting on board? Portuguese wines from several regions — Douro, Setúbal, Alentejo, Lisbon and more. We put the selection together with you: whites, reds, rosés or sparkling.

Are there petiscos to go with the wines? Yes. We add boards of cheeses and cured meats and other Portuguese petiscos, to pair with each wine.

Is the wine tasting only for groups or for two as well? Both. The boat is private, so it works just as well for a group (up to 37 people) as for a romantic tasting for two.

When is the best time for the tasting? At the late afternoon / sunset, when the light over the Tagus is at its peak — the perfect setting for a toast.
